Things to Do This Independence Day in the Lubbock Area

While the Fourth of July falls in the middle of the week this year, that isn’t stopping local Lubbock, TX residents from celebrating with a variety of events and activities planned for that day. Find three of our favorite annual events in the Lubbock area to attend below.

4th on Broadway Parade and Fireworks

The largest Fourth of July event in the Lubbock area is the annual 4th on Broadway festival and parade. This year, the main events will be taking place on Wednesday the 4th and will feature the Yankee Doodle Dash, the Sonic Parade, afternoon and evening outdoor concerts, and the annual Reagar Dykes firework display to end the evening festivities. The annual La Raza on The Plaza street dance event on June 30th and the annual Fibermax TX Country street dance on July 3rd will also be taking place to celebrate.

Lubbock area residents looking for a more active way to start their 4th of July celebrations are encouraged to attend the West Texas Running Club’s annual Firecracker Run. The run will include three separate events: a 1 mile run for kids, a 3-mile run, and a 10K. Details for the event including racing routes, pricing, and signup information can be found on the West Texas Running Club website.

Red, White, and Moo Fest and Parade

When: Wednesday, July 4th, 2018
Where: Downtown Plainview, TX
Cost: Varies by Event – Free Entry

Plainview’s annual Red, White, and Moo fest will be taking place on Wednesday the 4th on the lawn of the city courthouse. Residents will be able to participate in a variety of events throughout the day including a morning parade, dairy tours, kids bounce houses, petting zoos, live entertainment, food trucks, and more. Select service members, teachers, and nurses will also be treated to a free hot dog lunch for themselves and their families.
